Make a formal complaint

The prophet Jeremiah had taken about as much as he could bear. He did not like his job, his colleagues or the client base, nor did he like the area in which he was working. Jeremiah felt that that the only thing to do was make a formal complaint to the management. “Lord, You always give me justice when I bring a case before You. So let me bring You this complaint. Why are the wicked so prosperous? Why are evil people so happy? You have planted them, and they have taken root and prospered. Your Name is on their lips, but you are far from their hearts,” (Jeremiah 12: 1-2).  What can you do when you are on a mission for the Lord and you dislike everything about it? If someone else had appointed you to the role, you could complain to him or her. However, how can you complain to the Lord about His decisions? Jeremiah wanted to make his feelings known, but he kept at the forefront of his mind that he was dealing with Almighty God. Jeremiah started out by referring to the justice and fairness of the Lord. Was it fair that the wicked seemed to be so prosperous? Was it right that their lives seemed so much happier than Jeremiah’s was? Was it fair that these people, who were people of God in name only, seemed to have such successful lives? Many believers have asked God these very questions. You may feel exhausted as you get up to rush to work each day, but you have to go. Yet, you can see people making a living from immoral earnings getting up in the early afternoon because they do not need to rush anywhere. These same people have time to enjoy their lives, while you may experience fear or anxiety, as you look at the state of the world. The prophet Habakkuk made a series of complaints to the Lord before saying, “I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my post. There I will wait to see what the Lord says and how He will answer my complaint,” (Habakkuk 2: 1). The Lord listened to Jeremiah and Habakkuk and He will listen to you. Stay on task and wait for His reply to your complaint.
