Diligence rewarded

The Lord told His people to seek Him with all their hearts, and be confident that they would find Him. The apostle Paul explained further that the Lord rewards those who diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11: 6). Jeremiah’s letter outlined the reward for the people of Judah. “I will bring you back from your captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord. I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive,” (Jeremiah 29: 14). The Lord spoke to the people of Jeremiah’s day about restoration and new beginnings. Equally, kingdom citizens today can look to the Lord for restoration, renewal and new beginnings as their reward for seeking Him with all their hearts. Moses spoke to the Israelites as they were entering the Promised Land and reminded them that walking in obedience was the only way to survive in their new environment. However, Moses knew that the people would not always choose to listen to the voice of God, unless situations forced them to do so. In light of this knowledge, Moses told the people of God what would happen because of their disobedience.  The Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and only a few of you will survive among the nations to which the Lord will drive you. There you will worship carved gods of wood and stone, which cannot see, hear, eat or smell.  When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the Lord your God and obey Him,” (Deuteronomy 4: 27-28; 30).  Have you found that serving the gods of consumerism and materialism causes you stress? Are you tired of the rat race and feeling that you need to seek the things of the kingdom? Are you in distress because of the things that have happened to you? Do you need to return to the Lord and regain your focus on Him? Do you need to be liberated from everything that ties you down and holds you back? Return to the Lord, as quickly as you can. Your eternal reward awaits you. “The Lord your God is a merciful God; He will not abandon or destroy you. Nor will He forget the covenant with your ancestors, which He confirmed to them by oath,” (Deuteronomy 4: 31).
