Walk without stumbling

Jeremiah told the people of God that they should ask Him for His help and blessing. Jeremiah added that they should sing with gladness, and say, “Oh Lord, save Your people”. The Lord responded with a promise of deliverance for His people. “Behold, I will bring them from the North Country, and gather them from the ends of the earth, among them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and the one who labours with child, together. A great throng shall return there,” (Jeremiah 31: 7-8). Do you need to ask the Lord to save you? The Lord’s promises to His people in the days of Jeremiah are available for believers today, to claim in the Name of Jesus. The Lord reminds us that even if we are in the remotest part of the world, we are not beyond His reach. Other people might not help you because they cannot be bothered to make an effort. However, God says that He will go to any lengths to save you; He will go to the ends of the earth to gather the people who are unable to come to Him without support. God stipulates that He will reach out to people who are sick, disabled physically, mentally or socially and that He will care for women with dependents. Jeremiah continued to deliver God’s message of hope to His people, speaking words of reconciliation, restoration and renewal. “They shall come with weeping, and with supplications I will lead them. I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters, in a straight way in which they shall not stumble,” (Jeremiah 31: 9). The trauma and disappointment of the past may overwhelm you. However, the Lord promises that you will return to Him because He will lead you to Him with His prayers. Jesus told Peter that He was praying for him because the enemy was putting Peter through a time of sifting (Luke 22: 31-32). You have the privilege of knowing that in your times of testing, God prays for you too. The Lord promises to guide the steps of His children by streams of living water. He promises further that He will lead them in the paths of His righteousness. Knowing that God orders every step of His children, means that even though you know that the road ahead may be difficult, you can still be confident that by His grace, you will not stumble.

  1. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand.
