A new outfit

The message that Jeremiah had shared from the Lord promised healing, victory and blessings, if the people of God would respond to Him in obedience. Jeremiah continued to declare how God’s people would experience His blessing. “Thus says the Lord, ‘Behold, I will bring back the captivity of Jacob’s tents, and have mercy on his dwelling places. Then out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of those who make merry. I will multiply them, and they shall not diminish. I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small,” (Jeremiah 30: 18-19).  The message from the Lord reflected the promises that the Lord had made to His people since the time of Moses. It is likely that the people of Judah had grown up hearing about what God would do for them at a future date. Sometimes, if we hear something very often, even if it is wonderful and beyond our highest expectations, somehow the wonder fades and it becomes ordinary and routine. Sometimes, we just forget. Thus, God had to ensure that His people had the promises reiterated to them so that they would know that every word was applicable to their lives and circumstances. Have you been hearing about the blessings that God wants to give you? Have you grown tired of waiting for them? Have you even given up hope because everything just seems to be taking so long to come to fruition? The promises that God makes are yes and amen in Christ (2 Corinthians 1: 20) and therefore consider the words that the Lord spoke through Jeremiah, as though He had spoken to you. First, if you are living in mental, physical or spiritual exile, God is going to bring you back home. If you find that you are constantly grumbling and complaining because of how life has treated you, God is going to give you a new outlook. It comes in the form of an outfit: God will give you the garment of praise to replace the spirit of heaviness (Isaiah 61: 3). If you have ever felt insignificant because you are in the minority, God is going to multiply you and enlarge your territory. God will see to it that you radiate His glory and His blessings in your life will bring you honour.

  1. And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.
